Also included are the overall percentage stats for the jockey when riding a Wizard top rater or race favourite, for any stable.

To add to this weekly report, here is a Spotlight Profile of Dean Yendall (via ChatGPT, and other sources) which makes for some interesting reading.

Early Life and Racing Beginnings

Dean was born in Melbourne but moved to the country as a teenager. He decided early to become a jockey and began his apprenticeship with trainer Ken Sweeney at Jerilderie. After two years with Ken, he transferred to Wangaratta trainer Peter Grey with whom he completed his apprenticeship. He rode his first winner on Leinster at Narrandera in the early 1990s and by 1994 had notched his first city success, marking the start of his long career. johntapp

Family and Personal Connections

Although not from a long-established racing dynasty, Dean's family life is closely entwined with the sport through his marriage to fellow jockey Christine Puls. Dean has spoken publicly about balancing family life with the demands of riding, including long periods travelling between meetings and the physical risks associated with falls and injuries. After a serious neck injury that sidelined him for months, he returned to the saddle with a more structured support team, including a manager, performance staff and a dietician. racing  vrc.com

Riding Base and Main Circuits

Dean is based in Horsham and has spent the majority of his career riding in Victoria. Whilst he is still very competitive on the right horse at metropolitan level, and has ridden major winners at city tracks, he is best known as a dominant force in country racing, consistently posting over 100 winners per season. Between 2011 and 2017 he won the Neville Wilson Medal seven seasons in succession, awarded to the jockey with the most wins in the Victorian country season. vrc.com en.wikipedia

Key Trainer Associations

Over time, Dean has developed strong relationships with Victorian trainers such as Paul Preusker, Symon Wilde, and long-time friend Matthew Williams. These trainers, along with other provincial and country stables, continue to provided him with high quality rides. Dean also became closely associated with leading Victorian trainer Darren Weir during that trainer's peak years, riding extensively for him on the country circuit and sharing significant success at both country and metropolitan meetings. More recently he has continued to work with a broad network of trainers. racing

Major Wins and Career Highlights

Dean's career record includes more than 2,800 winners and at least six Group 1 victories, reflecting the depth of his achievements beyond the country premierships. He rates his 2011 Lexus Stakes win on Niwot among his best rides. His first Group 1 successes came in 2016, when he won the Spring Champion Stakes on Yankee Rose and the Myer (Empire Rose) Classic on I Am A Star. He added a second Empire Rose Stakes on Shoals in 2017 and has also recorded Group 1 victories in the Oakleigh Plate and the Memsie Stakes, the latter aboard Scales Of Justice for trainer Lindsey Smith. In staying races, he recently secured the Lexus Andrew Ramsden at Flemington on Basilinna. johntapp en.wikipedia
