Corey and Kylie Geran are a horse training partnership based at Clifford Park racecourse in Toowoomba. Kylie Geran, Corey's mother, has been training for the longer period. Her first winner as a trainer was Mr Kelly in 2006. In 2020, Corey Geran joined his mother Kylie in the training business. Before joining forces with his mother, Corey had a short stint training on the Sunshine Coast after studying Law at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Though the training partnership is C & K Geran, it is really Team Geran, and farther and husband, Gary Geran, also contributes significantly to the stable's success. With over 30 years in the saddle his breadth of knowledge, and his riding on the training track and on raceday, are seen as genuine pluses for the Team.

The stable operates primarily in South-East Queensland, focusing on suitable races across the region. With only some 30 horses in work the results are noteworthy with multiple wins on a day a further testament to their hard work. Just one example of the expertise at work: See For Yourself, a 24 start maiden, was purchased for $800 and with the stable has now won 11 races and more than $150,000 in prizemoney.

The stable currently ranks 7th in the overall Queensland Trainer Premiership with 69 wins and a strike rate of 15.8%, 8th in the Provincial Premiership with a 17.2% strike rate, and 7th in the Country Premiership with a strike rate of 18.7%.

Jockey & Trainer combinations and profile (Holly Watson)

Holly Watson began her career as an apprentice jockey in October 2020. She comes from a non-racing background but grew up and around horses, starting with pony club involvement. The 24-year-old, who was apprenticed to Simon Miller, rode 69 winners for the 2022-2023 season, including the Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic on Stellar Vista.

Another notable achievement was Holly's winning the inaugural Damien Oliver Award at the conclusion of the 2020-2023 season, which not only recognized her riding achievements but also her deep commitment to the broader aspects of thoroughbred racing and animal welfare generally. Previously she had won the Leading Apprentice title. Holly's philosophy: You couldnt be in racing if you didnt love animals because its your life and you have to be their carer. Its the top priority.

Holly is currently in the top-20 of the 2023-2024 W.A. Jockey Premiership on 44 wins, with a strike rate of 7.8%.

Chris Anderson is based at Eagle Farm. He founded and operates his stable under the banner of Anderson Racing.

Chriss grandfather, uncle, and cousin, were all horse trainers but he didnt take up training until well into his adult life, following successful business and corporate careers. He initially began by training in 2012 with just one leased horse and has progressed to the point where he now has more than 40 in work for owners such as Think Big Stud, Glenlogan Park, and Gooree Park Studs.

Anderson Racing resides within the Eagle Farm infield stabling complex. As well as being trained at Eagle Farm the horses are regularly taken down to Nudgee Beach for exercise on the sand, and in the water. They are broken in, and pre-trained at Washpool Lodge at Aratula. A key success for the stable was that of Lead Me On who won the $500,000 Magic Millions Debut at the Gold Coast in January this year.

Alysha Collett is a New Zealand-born jockey who started her career when only 16 years old and who has ridden in NZ, Australia, and Singapore. She comes from a family deeply involved in horse racing, now in both NZ and Australia. Both of her parents, Richard and Judy Collett, were former jockeys who now operate a racing stable in Pukekohe; brother is Jason Collett, now successfully established in Sydney, and a cousin is Samantha Collett.

Alysha faced significant challenges in her career, with a serious fall in Singapore that resulted in spinal surgery. She worked hard for 8 months to recover and return (successfully) to racing. 

Whilst still a claiming apprentice, Alysha was initially invited to ride for Chris Waller in Sydney for a short-stay three weeks and was successful enough for him to later offer her an extended 3-month engagement. Some seven years later (late 2021) she relocated to ride full time in Sydney and its surrounds.

Her father Richard has summed up Alysha's attitude and approach to race riding: "She does her homework and does her form and knows everything that's going on. She's got a good understanding of how a race is going to unfold."

Currently Alysha ranks 13th in the NSW Jockey Premiership on 81 wins, with a strike rate of 12.2%. In the Provincial Premiership she is 4th with 43 wins and has a strike rate of 12.6%. Her stats below definitely confirm her ability.

Cody Morgan is based at Tamworth racecourse where he has 50 boxes, as well as having 12 on a private 25-acre property some 10 minutes from the track. He comes from a family with a strong background in equestrian sports, with both his father and brother prominent on the rodeo circuit. He began his jockey apprenticeship with Craig Martin for whom he rode his first winner in 2001. Subsequently, he continued his career with Tony McEvoy at Lindsay Park. However, rising weight resulted in Codys decision to turn his hand to training, gaining his licence in 2008.

The low point in Cody's training career came in 2013 when he faced serious allegations related to the administration of a "milkshake" to a runner prior to a race. Following this incident, Morgan's training license was suspended for two years. However, he was later re-licensed and returned to training.

Cody has a close association with jockey Aaron Bullock who rode the first horse he trained to win a race; that was in 2008. The continuing record of success of this combination is clear from the stats below. Cody, himself, currently ranks 4th in the NSW Country Tainer Premiership on 48 wins, and with a strike rate of 20.6% which is 3rd best of the top 20 trainers in the Country Premiership.

Mitchell Bell is a successful NSW jockey, specialising on the provincial and country circuits. His decision to concentrate on the non-metro circuit was cemented when recruited by Patinack Farm to be its leading provincial rider.

Mitchell has a family connection with racing through his grandfather William (Billy) Bell who was also a jockey. Mitchell began his apprenticeship with Mark Mason at Tamworth in 2001 and rode his first black-type winner when Mizone won the Listed Underwood Cup at Rosehill in 2008.

Another career highlight came when Artlee won the Country Championships Final at Randwick in 2015. He is now very close to riding 1,000 winners. Currently Mitchell ranks 6th in the NSW Provincial Premiership on 40 wins, with a strike rate of 15.3%.

There have been significant physical setbacks during Mitchell's career. He has had two hip replacements, the second due to suffering from osteoarthritis. Like most jockeys, other injuries have also forced him to take breaks from riding. Still riding well, Mitchell continues to be a force to be reckoned with when on the right horse.
