Michael Rodd is again Brisbane-based, continuing a successful career which has spanned several decades of riding here and overseas. Though he grew up on the Central Coast of New South Wales he began his apprenticeship in 2000 in Queensland and there he was champion apprentice in Brisbane three times. A key association then was with trainer Bryan Guy to whom he was indentured, and this relationship has extended to this day.

Michael rode with great success in Melbourne, where he was stable jockey for mega-owner Lloyd Williams, and was leading jockey in Singapore. In Singapore he won such Group 1 classics as the Singapore Derby, Raffles Cup and Kranji Mile. Whilst in Melbourne his Group 1 successes included the 2006 Victoria Derby and the 2007 Melbourne Cup, both on Efficient. Another highlight was his win on Maldivian in the 2008 W.S. Cox Plate. He also had a wonderful record on Atlantic Jewel winning four Group 1 races on the daughter of Fastnet Rock. In total Michael has ridden 36 Group 1 winners, with 10 of those in Singapore.

When Michael relocated from Singapore in 2020 he initially based himself in Melbourne but found it difficult to re-establish himself in that city. So, the decision was taken to return to the scene of his golden years as an apprentice, Brisbane. With opportunities coming his way from trainers like Tony Gollan, Rob Heathcote, and Kelly Schweida, he is again cementing his position as one of the top riders in the State and currently ranks 9th in the Queensland Metropolitan Premiership with 29 wins, and a strike rate of 13.2%, which puts him in the top echelon of those top 20 riders.

• When the horse is the Wrat 100 pointer and started at odds between $2.00 and $5.90
• When the horse runs as the race favourite at odds between $2.00 and $5.90
• When the horse starts at odds between $2.00 and $5.90

The statistics cover the jockey's rides throughout Australia, with combinations that have 5 wins or more highlighted separately as well as being included in the body of the table. Included in the table are only those stables for which the jockey has registered at least one win in the $2.00 - $5.90 odds range during the period covered which is from 1 August 2022, so last season and the current season.

The following table shows where the winner of each race run yesterday was rated by Wrat, Wmod, Whcp, and Wexpk. The Wrat analysis applies to both Wizard and Wizard Plus. The Wmod, Whcp, and Wexpk analysis applies to the ratings included in the Wizard Plus 'Plus Panel'.

This information should provide a better guide to those subscribers who are interested in backing two runners in a race (where odds are acceptable) or anchor two runners for multiples etc. (Note: Over the long term the top-two Wrat runners have won around 43% to 46%, and the top rated runner 25% to 27%, of races on a seasonal basis)
