Jockey & Trainer combinations and profile (Ben Price)
Ben Price quickly made a name for himself as a promising apprentice rider in South Australia. He comes from a racing family, following in the footsteps of his father Simon, a Group 1 winning jockey. His brother Will, now based in Victoria, is also a well-regarded young rider. He completed his apprenticeship with the Racing SA Apprentice Academy, where he was crowned Dux of the Academy for two consecutive years. He outrode his claim in December last year.
Ben Price is closely associated with co-trainers Will Clarken and Niki O'Shea who have been very supportive. He has already enjoyed Group race success: In July last year he rode Coco Sun to win the Listed Oaklands Plate at Morphettville for trainer Tony McEvoy. On more than one occasion he has ridden three winners on a day.
Ben currently sits 13th in the S.A. Jockey Premiership on 42 wins with a win strike rate of 8.7%. In the 2023-2024 Metropolitan Premiership he is 8th, with a 9.2% strike rate.

This information should provide a better guide to those subscribers who are interested in backing two runners in a race (where odds are acceptable) or anchor two runners for multiples etc. (Note: Over the long term the top-two Wrat runners have won around 43% to 46%, and the top rated runner 25% to 27%, of races on a seasonal basis)
