Trainer & Jockey combinations and profile (Desleigh Forster)
Desleigh Forster is based at Eagle Farm Racecourse in Brisbane. She grew up around horses. Her father trained endurance horses and she was his hands-on assistant from a very young age. Still a teenager, she moved to Brisbane where she worked with Barry Baldwin, eventually as Foreman, for 3 1/2 years. Then a stint working with Bart Cummings' horses in Brisbane, and for Peter Moody whilst he was in Brisbane. Later Desleigh went to Melbourne to help set up Peter's Melbourne stable.
Whilst in Melbourne she decided to take up training in her own right and relocated to Brisbane. Her stable in Brisbane is relatively small, with 16 horses normally in work, as Desleigh likes to work closely with each individual horse. As Peter Moody said, "She's just a bloody good horsewoman, everything has always been about the horse with her."
Her first winner as a trainer was High Spy in 2003. But the horse that lifted her into the elite company of Group 1 trainers is Apache Chase who secured her first Group One victory in the Kingsford-Smith Cup at Eagle Farm. There has been other Stakes success for the stable and undoubtedly there is more to come.

This information should provide a better guide to those subscribers who are interested in backing two runners in a race (where odds are acceptable) or anchor two runners for multiples etc. (Note: Over the long term the top-two Wrat runners have won around 43% to 46%, and the top rated runner 25% to 27%, of races on a seasonal basis)
