Jockey & Trainer combinations and profile (Jye McNeil)
Jye McNeil is based in Victoria. In 2011 he commenced his apprenticeship with Gerald Egan, who also mentored jockeys such as Luke Nolan. Jyes father Daryl is a farmer and hobby horse trainer, while his brother Logan is also a jockey.
The most notable of his Group One wins would be that of Twilight Payment in the 2020 Melbourne Cup. His judgement of pace on that occasion has been lauded. His first Group 1 was the Turnbull Stakes on Kings Will Dream in 2019. There have been others. Another highlight was riding five winners on one afternoon at a Caulfield meeting.
In the 2023-2024 Victorian Metropolitan Premiership Jye current sits 6th with 40 wins and has a strike rate of 9.4%.
