Trainer & Jockey combinations and profiles (Andrew Bobbin)
Andrew Bobbin, after being involved with horses when growing up on a rural property, initially pursued a career in professional rugby league. After retiring from rugby and working for some 10 years as a cameraman in television (with CNN) he transitioned into a career that ultimately led into him becoming a fully licenced thoroughbred horse trainer.
Following his time overseas as a cameraman, Andrew returned to Australia and initially produced videos and owner-updates for Gai Waterhouse, but all the time learning how a big stable operates. Then came the opportunity to join up with Matt Cumani who was just setting up his Ballarat stable. Andrew was Assistant Trainer to Matt for five years.
In 2020, Andrew established Grampians Racing, located at the foot of the Grampians Mountains, and only 10 minutes from the Stawell racetrack, where he has around a dozen extra boxes. Started operations in September and by December had trained his first winner. His first metropolitan win came less than a year into his training career with Scottish Dancer.
Now with more than 60 in work Andrew enjoys success not only on the provincial/country circuit but also on Melbourne and Adelaide tracks. One of his notable winners was Ocean Beyond who won the Listed Straight Six at Flemington
Andrew: Racing is very much programming and planning, and when you start from scratch with a horse, get it to the races and actually win a race, its a huge thrill.

The Wizard Ratings Results report includes the results of the top-two rated Wrat runners. This information should provide a better guide to those subscribers who are interested in backing two runners in a race (where odds are acceptable) or anchor two runners for multiples etc. (Note: Over the long term the top-two Wrat runners have won around 43% to 46%, and the top rated runner 25% to 27%, of races on a seasonal basis)
