Jockey & Trainer combinations and profiles (Ben Allen)
Ben Allen, is the son of a horse trainer, and he started riding trackwork when around 14 years of age. He joined the Racing Victoria Apprenticeship Program in 2015 during which time he won the RV Elite Jockey Award. He completed his apprenticeship in early 2019 with more 300 winners to his credit. Group 1 success came in 2022 with Marabi which won the Oakleigh Plate for trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, after which Ben took three months off from riding. He has also enjoyed success in Group 2 and Group 3 races.
Ben finished in the top-20 in the 2023-2024 Victorian Jockey Premiership on 70 wins, with a strike rate of 16.5%. That win strike rate puts him in 3rd place in the Premiership on that metric.
