Trainer & Jockey combinations and profile (Toby Edmonds)
Toby Edmonds is based on the Gold Coast. In his early years he benefited from working with leading trainers, such as Neville Begg and Peter Snowden. He was licenced as a trainer in 1988. In 2011, after working as Queensland foreman for Patinack Farm, he returned to training independently on the Gold Coast; previously he trained at both the Gold Coast and Warwick Farm.
With his son, Trent, he formed a successful father-son training partnership that extended from August 2019 until earlier this year when Trent branched out on his own, establishing a Victorian-based stable at Pakenham.
Group 1 success came with Tyzone in the 2020 Stradbroke Handicap. There have been numerous other Group and Listed winners, both in Queensland and interstate. He also achieved great success with Houtzen, winning the Magic Millions 2yo Classic.
The Toby and Trent partnership was in the top-20 in the 2023-2024 Queensland Provincial Premiership on 22 wins, with a 25.6% strike rate, which was the second best strike rate in the top-20.

This information should provide a better guide to those subscribers who are interested in backing two runners in a race (where odds are acceptable) or anchor two runners for multiples etc. (Note: Over the long term the top-two Wrat runners have won around 43% to 46%, and the top rated runner 25% to 27%, of races on a seasonal basis)
