Jockey & Trainer combinations and profiles (Ethan Brown)
Ethan Brown is based in Melbourne. He commenced riding in Alice Springs in 2013, apprenticed to Greg Connor. However, opportunities were limited and he relocated to Victoria, and there was apprenticed to Mick Kent (Snr). During his apprenticeship he twice won the Rising Stars Series. In the 2018-2019 season he was crowned champion apprentice.
Ethan has experienced serious injuries that required surgery and extensive recovery periods. In the autumn of last year, he was badly injured in a fall during the running of the Australian Guineas. It necessitated a long recovery.
In May 2022, Ethan rode Snapdancer to win the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes and partnered her again to win the Group 1 Memsie Stakes, before also taking out the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes on Smokin' Romans in the Spring. Mick Price, considers him one of the most underrated Group 1 jockeys in Victoria.
Despite an injury-disrupted 2023-2024 season Ethan still made the top-20 in the Victorian Jockey Premiership on 64 wins (24 in the city), with a strike rate of 15.7%. A very commendable effort.
