Matrix full results summary and day-by-day results for Thursday racing

The Wizard Matrix report is now in its 19th week of operations. Time to provide you with an overview so that you can evaluate for yourself the success rates of the various qualifying options available through this unique report. A full five-month review will be provided shortly, and updates will continue thereafter, supplementing the snapshot reports that appear on this page daily.

In the following table the assessments have been grouped as follows:

Group 1: The top-rated runner/qualifier from the three main ratings options

Group 2: The three Matrix selectives options

Group 3: A head-to-head comparison of the top-two rated runners from WRat and MaxR

Group 4: The results for the top-three and top-four WRat rated runners

The out-performer for each week, in the three key categories, has been colour-coded.

The results clearly show that the (market movements sensitive) Raceday and MaxR qualifiers consistently outperform the Wizards historically highly regarded traditional weight ratings (based primarily on race form). So, it has been very pleasing to see that all the research we have done over the past two years is paying off with these improved strike rates.

Then when we raise the bar higher and seek to highlight the best of these improved assessments, via the Selectives category, the results improve even more dramatically.

With Selectives, the top-rated qualifier is winning about one race in two, remarkably consistently. Given the nature of these Selectives most of the backable winners are in the $2.00 to $4.00 odds range, but there have been recent winners at significantly longer odds as well.

Since last year my focus has been lifting the win strike rate, to maximize the chance of backing the winner, and to find a way to highlight the best prospects on the day, thereby reducing the number of bets required to deliver a given number of winners on the day and the outlay required to achieve that objective.

What follows from this, if successful, is that with an increased strike rate comes shorter losing runs, and a much better chance to apply a staking strategy to take advantage of this situation.

Tomorrow I will again look at these first 18 weeks of the Matrix qualifiers, but from a different perspective.

Meanwhile, here are the day-by-day Matrix results for meetings run on a Thursday, for the last 6 weeks. This is the fifth of the Matix DOW reports to be published. (DOW = Day of week). So, today being Thursday, this Matrix DOW report covers the past six Thursdays, March 20 to April 24, inclusive.

Wizard Ratings and Raceday and Matrix and Summary Results

We publish these full results daily so that subscribers can see the results of the Wizard's ratings options, and Report-content, and thereby formulate a selecting and betting strategy that suits them individually. The Wizard ratings should not be seen as "tips", rather as objective assessments that can be used to inform one's own judgement as to the relative chances of the runners in a race.

Below are the full day-by-day results for Wizard (Wrat) top 4 rated runners, the Raceday Qualifier, the Matrix (MaxR) 100 pointer, the MaxR top-two, and Selectives: the market-sensitive Matrix *EOam-MaxR100 qualifier, the ratings-focused Matrix W1-MaxR100 qualifier, and the multi-factor Matrix W1-*EOam-MaxR100 qualifier. The (4 weeks) column shows the results for the four weeks prior to the current week and the 2023-2024 column shows the WRat results for the full 2023-2024 racing season.

This results summary is colour coded so that it is easier to track the relative performance of the Top Rated (blue) and Top-Two Rated (green) ratings options on a daily, and longer term, basis. The best overall qualifier (yellow) is also highlighted. The number of qualifying races is included along with the win strike rate. With respect to the best-overall category, a minimum of 6 qualifying races is required in order to be ranked.

The following table shows this week's results of possible Matrix Selectives combinations which draw on the Raceday, Watch, and Magic reports. These combinations are accessible via the Wizard MATRIX report which is posted to our website around 10:30am each day.

(Key: The first of the two columns for each Selective combination shows number of qualifying races and the second column shows the strike rate. Headings: RWM is Raceday,Watch,Magic,  RWM 2/3 means two or three qualifying, Rday is Raceday report qualifier , Magic is Magic report qualifier, R/M is Raceday and Magic, WR1 is Wrat 100, MR1 is MaxR 100.)

The following table shows where the winner of each race run yesterday was rated by WRat, WMod, WHcp, and WExpk and was the qualifier in the Wizard Raceday Report. (Note: The Wrat [W] winner results report on both the top rated and top-two rated winners.) The Raceday Report winners under the Top Rated column are from those races where there was only one Raceday qualifier, and under the Top 2 Rated on the rare occasions where there were two qualifiers in a race.

Header: WMHER = WRat (W), WMod (M), WHcp (H), WExpk (E), Raceday (R).
