Jockey & Trainer combinations and profile (Justin Huxtable)
Justin Huxtable hails from South Australia where he was first apprenticed to his father David Huxtable. In 2017 his indentures were transferred to Sue Jaensch. He rode successfully in South Australia, registering more than 100 wins, before relocating to Queensland in late 2019 and linked up with trainer Chris Munce.
He now rides as a senior jockey, having outridden his metro claim before completing his apprenticeship. His first Group success in Queensland came in June 2021 when he rode the Chris Munce trained Rhapsody Rose to win the Listed Carter Stakes.
Justin is tall for a jockey, standing 177m, and has been active in seeking to keep his weight under control without sacrificing his strength. His determination in this regard is reflected by the fact that currently he is 7th in the Queensland Jockey Premiership (84 wins), with an overall strike rate of 14.6%. Interestingly, on the country circuit his strike rate is 19.9%.

Trainer & Jockey combinations and profile (Jared Wehlow)
Jared Wehlow is the son of former trainer Greg (Greedy) Wehlow. As a teenager he worked in the stables of Toby Edmonds and Darryl Hanson and it was this experience that made him decide to leave school and follow the lead of his father and pursue a career as a trainer.
Jared, whose stable has around 30 horses in work, is located in Rockhampton and races under the banner of "Wehlow Racing". He began his career as a trainer in December 2010 and had his first winner at the Sunshine Coast in January 2011. A testament to Jared's ability was to train the veteran Teddy Bare to win two Gladstone Cups. Then there is Inquiry, an Exceed And Excel gelding, who gave the stable its first Group win in the Listed Spear Chief Handicap at Doomben in June 2020. Also worth noting is the stable's great run in late 2022, when Jared produced nine winners from 14 starters over an 18-day period.
Jared is willing to travel to ensure his horses compete at the right time and place. This approach combined with his belief in feeding them right, working them right and placing them right, so they will race all right has led to his early and continuing success. He is currently in the top 20 in the Queensland Provincial Trainer Premiership and has a very creditable win strike rate of 19.6%.
